Neighbourhood Plan 2016

Neighbourhood Planning is a new way for communities to decide the future of the places where they live and work.  The Government has introduced the community right to neighbourhood planning through the Localism Act.

Brixton Neighbourhood Plan Group has been meeting since March 2015 and continues to meet fortnightly.

Neighbourhood Planning is a long process laid down by national guidance and includes finding the detailed views of the local population.

A consultation event was held on Saturday 16th July where parishioners were able to discuss their ideas further with members of the Neighbourhood Planning Group.  Following this event a Community Day Report has been produced.

The Neighbourhood Plan Group consulted parishioners on the Vision and Objectives for the plan in December 2016.

A further community day event was held on 6th May 2017 in the Community Room to consult on the draft Neighbourhood Plan Policies.  Following this event a Community Day Report has been produced.

The Brixton Parish Housing Needs Survey with a covering letter was circulated to all households in Brixton Parish, including those in Carollsland, at the beginning of April 2016. The response rate was 29% with an average response being 25%. The Housing Needs Survey Reportgeneral comments about new development in the village and comments with regard to affordable housing have now been received  by the Neighbourhood Plan Group.

In June 2016 the Neighbourhood Plan 2016-2030 questionnaire was again distributed to all households in Brixton Parish asking for views on a variety of issues affecting the parish from the use of open spaces, parking, traffic, recreational and sporting opportunities.
